Clinical information

Slides include two bone marrow aspirate slides and five blood smears stained with Wright's Giemsa stain and scanned at 40X or 63X magnification.

1. Normal bone marrow (BM1) - mature and immature stages of each cell lineage; normal cellularity and M:E ratio.

2. Acute Leukemia (KE) - mainly blasts (AML); compare to the lymphocytes. WBC 77.8 K/uL; HGB 8.8 g/dL; PLT 23 K/uL

3. Abnormal Bone Marrow (PB) - hypercellular; nearly 100% blasts (ALL) that have replaced normal precursor cells. CBC: WBC 144.0 K/uL; HGB 9.4 g/dL; PLT 40 K/uL

4. Infectious mononucleosis (KR) -
many reactive lymphocytes; compare to the monocytes. WBC 11.0 K/uL; HGB 12.5 g/dL; PLT 219 K/uL

5. Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (NE55) - all stages of neutrophils, increased basophils. WBC 297.0 K/uL; HGB 11.0 g/dL; PLT 365 K/uL

6. Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (6) - predominance of hyperclumped lymphocytes. WBC 272.0 K/uL; HGB 11.8 g/dL; PLT 93 K/uL

7. Mystery Slide
