Clinical information

Reference ID: SP-T-20A
Diagnosis: HSIL - severe/CIS
Discussion:
Cellular characteristics - round to oval
Cellular arrangements - 3D syncytial like aggregates, disorderly crowded clusters, loss of nuclear polarity, can also be single cells.
Cytoplasm - scant and delicate, typically forming a small rim around the nucleus. Cell borders are distinct in single cell arrangements and indistinct/illdefined in syncytial groups.
Nucleus - dark, much enlarged, atleast 2/3rd of the cell's total size, 2 to 3.5 times of the poly. The shape of the nucleus is irregular, raisinoid. The chromatin pattern is hyperchromatic, coarsely granular and irregularly distributed. Mitotic figures are seen. The nuclear membrane is irregular. N/C ratio = 1: <.5
